From Asia to Stockton: The Feather Extension Technique Comes to the US

If you have seen featherlight extensions that seem to disappear into the hair on social media, you have seen feather tip hair. It is often sold as 6D, 9D or Korean feather extensions, and the technique gained attention through stylists across Asia before going viral around the world.
Why the World Took Notice
Feather tip pieces are small and fine, so they can be placed close to the scalp in tiny sections. The result is length and fullness without the heavy tracks of a sewn in weft. Clients loved how natural it looked up close and how freely the hair moved.
Bringing It to Our Chair
After more than 30 years in cosmetology and braiding, I saw what this hair could do for my clients, and I saw that many feather installs still rely on beads, glue or heavier crochet hair at the root. I chose 9D micro feather hair and a hand tied approach, placed like micro K tips and secured with a Brazilian knot concept.
I named that technique The Illusion Knot Method℠. 9D micro feather hair is the type of extension; The Illusion Knot Method℠ is the name for how I install it. No braids, no beads, no glue and no tension, so the install stays invisible even in a ponytail.
For Every Texture
This is not just for textured hair. If there is hair to knot to, the method works, as long as your natural hair is at least 4 inches long. We book one client a day, and every install includes a complimentary refresh.
